Sowing Seeds of Hope Hosts Parenting Classes in Partnership with District Attorney’s Helping Families Initiative

Sowing Seeds of Hope is proud to partner with the Helping Families Initiative, a statewide program that works with schools, district attorneys, and community partners to identify students experiencing challenges such as truancy or behavioral concerns and connect their families with support services. The program focuses on identifying the root causes of these issues and coordinating services such as mentoring, counseling, parenting education, and other resources to improve student success and family stability. Helping Families operates locally through the office of District Attorney Robert Turner, Jr., whose judicial circuit serves Dallas, Perry, and Wilcox counties.

Parents and caregivers of students referred to the program were provided with free parenting education and support based on the Changing Destructive Adolescent Behavior curriculum. These evidence-based resources, which are developed and distributed by The Parent Project, are designed to help families build strategies to better support their teenagers while addressing challenging thoughts, behaviors, and attitudes.

Like Sowing Seeds of Hope’s other parenting education programs, our Helping Families courses are sponsored by the Children’s Trust Fund of Alabama. Thanks to CTF’s support, Sowing Seeds of Hope this strengthen families in Perry County by providing accessible parenting education and support services through local community partnerships.
