Sowing Seeds of Hope partnered with Samford University’s Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNAPHA) chapter to host a Community Literacy Block Party on April 15. The event focused on promoting literacy and health education for families across the community.
Student volunteers from the McWhorter School of Pharmacy helped lead activities designed to encourage reading among children while also sharing information with adults about health literacy and access to community resources. They also staffed a health fair hosted by Perry County Healthcare Coordinator Frances Ford.
Community gatherings like the block party create opportunities for families to engage in educational activities while connecting with organizations that support learning and health awareness.
Collaborative community events like the block party demonstrate the value of partnerships between universities and nonprofit organizations for local communities.
