Sowing Seeds of Hope assisted 304 seniors through its annual Thanksgiving Project on November 21.
Each year, local churches are asked to refer seniors who may be in need of groceries during the holiday season for the program. Local churches, statewide partners, and Sowing Seeds of Hope pool funds to purchase all items needed to make a Thanksgiving meal, along with a few pantry staples.
In addition to contributing food items, members of Mountain Brook Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa came to Marion to assist with packing grocery bags. Representatives from local churches then picked up the bags for at-home delivery to their sponsored seniors.
Programs like the Thanksgiving Project demonstrate Sowing Seeds of Hope’s commitment to ensure that the most vulnerable individuals in Perry County have resources to meet their basic needs.
