Sowing Seeds of Hope staff recently completed the final session of the Diabetes Education and Empowerment Program (DEEP) at Lilly Grove Baptist Church in Perry County. The program concluded with post-program surveys administered on January 30, marking the end of a series of sessions focused on helping community members better understand and manage chronic disease.
The DEEP curriculum is designed to provide participants with practical strategies for improving nutrition, increasing physical activity, and monitoring their health. Through group discussions and educational activities, participants explored ways to make sustainable lifestyle changes that can reduce the long-term impacts of diabetes and related conditions.
This program was made possible through funding from the Southwest Alabama Health Improvement Initiative, housed at the Alabama Rural Prevention Center, and through the partnership and support of Lilly Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Leo and Mrs. Mary King played an active role in welcoming participants and supporting the program throughout its duration.
Sowing Seeds of Hope continues to collaborate with local organizations and faith communities to bring health education opportunities to residents across Perry County.
