Sowing Seeds of Hope partnered with Faith Baptist Church and the Perry County Emergency Management Agency to host a community food giveaway on March 26 in Marion. The event provided nonperishable food supplies to 240 families across Perry County.
Food items were purchased through the Selma Area Food Bank and distributed from the Ed Daniel Job Training Center. Volunteers and staff worked together throughout the morning to ensure families received groceries that could support their households during a time when many continue to face economic challenges.
The event also provided an opportunity to distribute children’s winter coats that had been donated by students and families from Riverchase Elementary School in Hoover. Some coats were shared at the Community Arts Festival earlier in March, while others were given to families attending the food giveaway.
Partnerships with local churches and regional organizations make events like this possible. Faith Baptist Church’s membership with the Selma Area Food Bank allows Sowing Seeds of Hope to access discounted food supplies that can then be shared with families throughout the county.
