Sowing Seeds of Hope expanded its efforts to address food insecurity during the summer through several partnerships and volunteer initiatives.
Volunteers from St. Matthew’s Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky helped distribute Weekend Fuel packs for students on June 30. These food packs help ensure that children have access to meals when school cafeterias are closed.
The organization also maintains a supply of nonperishable food items in its office to assist families experiencing food shortages. Visiting volunteers helped replenish these supplies during their time in Perry County.
In addition, Sowing Seeds of Hope was approved for membership with the Selma Food Bank. This partnership allows the organization to place food orders directly for future distributions, expanding its ability to respond to community needs.
Programs like these help ensure that families have access to basic necessities through collaborative work with other organizations.
