Sowing Seeds of Hope Hosts Congress in Your Community Event with Representative Terri Sewell

On May 10, Sowing Seeds of Hope was honored to host Congresswoman Terri Sewell for the Perry County stop on her annual Congress in Your Community tour of Alabama’s seventh district.

Sewell joined in roundtable discussions with the Perry County citizens present, listening to their concerns and asking questions about federal programs, how legislative decisions impact daily life, and her hopes for the Alabama Black Belt.

Sewell was joined at the event by USDA Rural Development State Director Nivory Gordon and his staff, who attended to discuss loan and grant programs for housing construction or repair that are available to qualified residents of Perry County. Community members had an opportunity to learn more about these resources and discuss their eligibility in one-on-one conversations.

Sowing Seeds of Hope is grateful to Congresswoman Sewell for her commitment to listening to the people of the Alabama Black Belt. We are proud to support any effort to educate Perry County residents about assistance that may be available to them through federal programs.
