Sowing Seeds of Hope Perry County recently hosted a Mental Health Awareness Event designed to educate, encourage, and support individuals and families throughout the community. The event brought residents together for meaningful conversations about mental wellness, available resources, and the importance of seeking help when needed.
A highlight of the event was a presentation by Ms. Charysse Gorden, who shared valuable information about mental health, self-care, and the importance of recognizing when additional support may be needed. Her presentation encouraged attendees to prioritize their mental well-being and to help create a community where conversations about mental health are welcomed and supported.
The event served as an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges many individuals face and to remind community members that help is available. Participants learned about local and national resources that provide support for those experiencing mental health concerns, emotional distress, or crisis situations. This was one of several initiatives during May, which is Mental Health Month, to help reduce stigma and encourage healthy conversations surrounding mental wellness.
Sowing Seeds of Hope encourages anyone struggling with mental health challenges to seek support from trusted healthcare providers, local mental health professionals, or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Community resources such as Cahaba Mental Health Center are also available to provide assistance and connect individuals with appropriate care.
Through events like this, Sowing Seeds of Hope continues its commitment to building a healthier, stronger, and more connected Perry County.
