Sowing Seeds of Hope provided several programs during the summer months to support children across Perry County.
The organization distributed 72 Weekend Fuel Packs to children in July and August in partnership with First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa and the Alabama Coalition for Healthy Mothers and Children. These bags of snacks and easy-to-prepare meals are designed to help address food insecurity among Perry County children.
Sowing Seeds of Hope staff also spent a week working with children who participated in the Marion Perry-County Library’s Summer Reading Program. Our afternoon programming at the library focused on social-emotional development, including conflict resolution, collaboration, identifying personal strengths, and expressing emotions.
School supplies and ESL resources were also provided for Oak Grove Methodist Church’s Vacation Bible School participants.
Summer programs like these help ensure that children continue to have access to educational opportunities and basic resources while school is not in session.
