Sowing Seeds of Hope and Local Schools Welcome Volunteers for Seed Camp

Volunteers from Alabama Cooperative Baptist Fellowship churches, including Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, Baptist Church of the Covenant, and Crosscreek Baptist Church, participated in Seed Camp in Perry County from June 23 through June 27.

During the week, volunteers offered in-class learning opportunities for elementary students enrolled in Summer Learning programs at Francis Marion School and R.C. Hatch High School.

Originally developed by Vestavia Hills Baptist Church as a sports camp hosted on the campus of Judson College, Seed Camp is now a school-based program focused primarily on exposing children to the arts, engineering, and social-emotional development. In its new format, Seed Camp continues to provide opportunities for students to learn new skills, build relationships with volunteers, and expand their view of what the future may hold.

Programs like Seed Camp create educational opportunities for children in Alabama’s Black Belt through partnerships between churches and local schools. For more information about how your church can be involved in Perry County, please contact Sowing Seeds of Hope at 334-683-4666.
