Sowing Seeds of Hope Hosts Parenting Workshop and Parent Focus Group

Sowing Seeds of Hope hosted two activities in May designed to provide support for parents and families.

On May 4, the organization held a parent focus group to better understand the firsthand experiences of families with school-aged children. Five parents participated, representing families of students at Francis Marion School, R.C. Hatch High School, and Breakthrough Charter School.

The organization also hosted a parenting workshop for parents of adolescents on May 22. The workshop was based on principles from the Changing Destructive Adolescent Behavior curriculum developed by The Parent Project. The workshop was designed as a preview of the full eight-week parenting program.

These parenting initiatives were sponsored by the Children’s Trust Fund of Alabama, a statewide agency that supports programs that work to prevent child abuse and neglect by strengthening families and providing resources for parents and children.

Alabamians can support the work of the Children’s Trust Fund in several ways, including purchasing the Children’s Trust Fund specialty car tag, ordering an Alabama heirloom birth certificate, making a donation, or designating a contribution on their Alabama state income tax form.
