Sowing Seeds of Hope Hosts Annual Thanksgiving Project for Senior Citizens in Perry County

On November 20, 2025, Sowing Seeds of Hope hosted its annual Thanksgiving Project at the Sowing Seeds of Hope Job Training Center in Marion, serving senior citizens across Perry County.

This longstanding effort provides grocery bags to seniors who are referred by participating local churches. Each church compiles a list of senior adults in their congregations or communities who would benefit from additional support during the Thanksgiving season.

This year, members of Mountain Brook Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa joined volunteers from 35 additional local churches to assist with the distribution. In total, 300 grocery bags were distributed to seniors throughout Perry County.

Each year, the Thanksgiving Project provides an important opportunity for churches to work together to ensure that senior residents are remembered and supported during the holiday season. Through collaboration and shared commitment, this annual event continues to strengthen connections across congregations while serving some of the county’s most valued community members.
