Sowing Seeds of Hope Celebrates 25 Years of Service in Perry County at Anniversary Event in Marion

On November 14, 2025, Sowing Seeds of Hope celebrated its 25th Anniversary at the Sowing Seeds of Hope Job Training Center in Marion.

The evening marked a significant milestone in the organization’s history, recognizing 25 years of service to Perry County through workforce development, family support, food distribution, and community partnerships.

Two of the organization’s founders, Rev. Mart Gray and Dr. Wayne Flynt, were present to offer remarks.

Dr. Wayne Flynt is Professor Emeritus of History at Auburn University and a widely respected historian of Alabama’s political, religious, and social history. Over the course of his academic career, he has authored numerous books and publications examining the cultural and political landscape of the state. His longstanding commitment to faith-based community engagement and rural advocacy has shaped much of his work both inside and outside the classroom.

The anniversary celebration provided an opportunity to reflect on the organization’s beginnings, acknowledge the dedication of volunteers and partners, and reaffirm its continued mission of service in Perry County.
