Sowing Seeds of Hope works to promote livable, accessible, and safe housing for all residents of Perry County.
Through volunteer efforts, Sowing Seeds of Hope offers home repairs that often include roofing, floor work, and bracing. Citizens in need of assistance complete request forms, and their needs are met as volunteer team availability and skill allow.
In addition to repairs, volunteer teams help improve the accessibility of homes for individuals with mobility issues. Groups have built dozens of handicapped access ramps, allowing Perry County residents with physical challenges to once again become active members of the community.
Sowing Seeds of Hope also administers a USDA Mutual Self-Help Housing program, which helps qualified families realize the dream of owning a home. It is currently the only program of its kind in the state. Eighteen Perry County families have moved into newly constructed, safe, and affordable homes through Sowing Seeds of Hope Self-Help Housing.
