This week, Sowing Seeds of Hope distributed “coronavirus care kits” to fifty senior citizens in Perry County. Each kit contained hand sanitizer, tissues, and disposable face masks. In addition, each bag contained a red ribbon that seniors were asked to place in their home as a reminder to pray for healthcare workers and those who are sick with COVID-19. Each kit also contained an encouraging note, which reminded the senior recipients that they are an essential part of the community.
Many of the supplies for the kits were donated by alumni of Lincoln Normal School through The Lincolnite Club, Inc. The hand sanitizer was purchased in bulk through a gift from First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa, and additional funding to care for seniors during the pandemic was provided by the Black Belt Community Foundation.
